Quebec CNESST First Aid Room Equipment & Supplies

Under the First-aid Minimum Standards Regulation (A-3.001, r. 10), the CNESST requires employers in establishments or principal contractors on construction sites with more than 100 workers to provide a dedicated First Aid Room (local de premiers secours). This facility requires specific physical furnishings, such as a stretcher, a table with two chairs, and a water supply with soap and a nail brush. The room must also be equipped with advanced CSA Z1220-17 compliant trauma supplies that go far beyond standard wall-mounted kits. Our First Aid Room equipment and supplies are pre-configured to ensure 100% compliance with current Quebec CNESST regulations.

Not sure if your site requires a dedicated First Aid Room or what specific items you need? Scroll down to our Quebec First Aid Room FAQ at the bottom of this page to find guidance on workforce thresholds, required furnishings, and staffing requirements.

Quebec First Aid Room Compliance FAQ

Which businesses are required to have a First Aid Room in Quebec?

Under the CNESST First-aid Minimum Standards Regulation (A-3.001, r. 10), an establishment or a construction site having more than 100 workers must provide a dedicated First Aid Room (local de premiers secours). It must be available and easily accessible at all times during working hours.

What are the physical facility and furnishing requirements for a Quebec First Aid Room?

The room must be kept clean, ventilated, well-lit, adequately heated, and supplied with water. To comply with CNESST standards, the room specifically must be equipped with a stretcher, one table, two chairs, soap, a nail brush, and paper towels.

What supplies and equipment are required in a Quebec First Aid Room?

The room must contain the minimum contents of a CSA Z1220-17 first aid kit appropriately sized for the workforce (typically a Large Type 3 Intermediate kit for 100+ workers). It also explicitly requires a communication system to immediately contact emergency services, with the communication procedures clearly posted nearby.

Who must be in charge of a Quebec First Aid Room?

The employer or general contractor must ensure that at least one qualified first-aider is present at all times for the first 50 workers, and an additional first-aider for every additional 100 workers (or fraction thereof). The names and work locations of first-aiders must be visibly posted. On construction sites, first-aiders must wear a safety hat bearing a cross.

Can I reorder individual supplies to restock my First Aid Room?

Yes. We offer individual replacement items—from CSA-compliant trauma supplies to registers and signage—to ensure your Quebec First Aid Room remains fully compliant and ready for emergency response at all times.
