Yukon WSCB & CSA Compliant First Aid Kits
Under the National Occupational Health and Safety Reconciliation Agreement, the Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) officially accepts the national CSA Z1220-17 standard as fully equivalent to its territorial Level 1, 2, and 3 first aid kits. Whether you operate a retail store in Whitehorse or a remote mining camp, your workplace can now be equipped with standardized Type 1, 2, or 3 kits based on your hazard class and worker count. Our kits are pre-configured to ensure 100% compliance with these WSCB requirements.

Yukon Compliance FAQ
Are the old Yukon Level 1, 2, or 3 kits still compliant?
Yes. The traditional Yukon kits are still valid, but the WSCB officially accepts national CSA Z1220-17 kits as an exact equivalent. Adopting the CSA standard makes it easier for businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions to maintain unified, compliant first aid stations.
How do CSA Z1220-17 kits translate to Yukon Level kits?
Under the harmonization agreement, the WSCB accepts a Type 2: Basic kit (any size) as equivalent to a Yukon Level 1. A Type 3: Intermediate (Medium) kit is equivalent to a Yukon Level 2. A Type 3: Intermediate (Large) kit is equivalent to a Yukon Level 3.
What is a 'Close,' 'Distant,' or 'Isolated' work site in the Yukon?
Yukon WSCB classifies workplace remoteness based on travel time to a medical facility. Close is up to 20 minutes of surface travel. Distant is more than 20 minutes. Isolated is more than 40 minutes, or a site where the normal mode of transport is aircraft. Distant and Isolated sites usually require supplemental equipment like stretchers and blankets.
What is the difference between a 'Basic' (Type 2) and 'Intermediate' (Type 3) kit?
Type 2 (Basic) kits are designed for Low-Risk environments like offices and retail stores. Type 3 (Intermediate) kits contain additional specialized items, like tourniquets and splinting materials, and are required for higher-risk work environments or remote, distant sites.
How do I choose the right kit size (Small, Medium, or Large)?
Kit size is based on the number of workers per shift: Small (2-25 workers), Medium (26-50 workers), and Large (51-100 workers). Workplaces with more than 100 workers must distribute multiple kits proportionally across the site.
What kind of first aid kit do I need for a single worker in isolation?
If an employee works alone or in isolation where they do not otherwise have access to a workplace first aid kit, the employer must provide a Type 1: Personal First Aid Kit to ensure immediate access to emergency supplies.
When does a Yukon employer need to provide a dedicated First Aid Room?
The requirement for a first aid room or dressing station depends on your hazard classification, worker count, and travel time. For example, a high-hazard isolated workplace requires a first aid room when there are 20 or more workers per shift.
Can I reorder individual supplies or refill my existing kit?
Yes. Employers are required to maintain their kits in a clean, dry, and complete condition. We offer complete kit refills and individual replacement items to ensure your kits remain compliant, fully stocked, and within their expiry dates.
How fast is shipping to Whitehorse and across the Yukon?
Orders to major hubs like Whitehorse typically arrive within 4-8 business days via tracked shipping. Delivery times may vary for specific remote communities or fly-in sites.
Is free shipping available for Yukon orders?
Yes, we offer free shipping on orders over $250 to most urban areas in the Yukon. Remote or fly-in communities may be subject to additional shipping surcharges.
