Oil, Gas & Mining First Aid Kits
The oil, gas, and mining industries operate in some of the most unforgiving and extreme environments in Canada. With crews facing heavy machinery, explosive materials, extreme temperatures, and hazardous chemicals, standard first aid is not enough. Our industrial first aid kits and heavy-duty trauma supplies are built to the national CSA Z1220-17 standard, ensuring your extraction sites, pipelines, and refineries remain 100% compliant with rigorous provincial occupational health and safety regulations.
Because these sites are almost universally classified as High-Hazard and are often located hours away from emergency medical services, they legally mandate Type 3 (Intermediate) Kits. Furthermore, remote and isolated camps require extensive supplemental gear, including emergency transport stretchers, thermal blankets, and advanced burn care.

Oil, Gas & Mining Compliance FAQ
What type of first aid kit is required for an oil rig or mining site?
Due to the extreme dangers of extraction industries, these environments are strictly classified as high-hazard. They legally require a Type 3 (Intermediate) CSA Z1220-17 First Aid Kit. These kits contain critical trauma supplies, including tourniquets, pressure dressings, and splints, to stabilize severe injuries.
Do pipeline crews and mobile fleets need their own kits?
Yes. Workers traveling to remote sections of a pipeline or operating heavy equipment alone require a Type 1 (Personal) Kit. Fleet vehicles carrying a crew of 2 or more workers into the field must be equipped with a Type 3 (Intermediate) kit, as they are performing high-hazard work away from the main camp.
What are the first aid requirements for isolated or remote work camps?
Provincial OHS laws classify a site as "isolated" if it takes more than 20 to 40 minutes (depending on the province) to transport an injured worker to a hospital. Isolated sites are legally required to have extensive emergency transport equipment on hand, including basket stretchers, spine boards, immobilization straps, and thermal rescue blankets.
Are metal cabinets required for these industries?
While plastic is technically compliant in clean environments, we strongly advise using heavy-duty metal cabinets with weather-resistant gaskets for oil, gas, and mining sites. The harsh weather, dirt, and industrial grime of a rig or mine will quickly ruin supplies in a standard plastic case. Metal cabinets ensure your life-saving gear remains sterile and ready to use.
Do we need specialized burn kits and eyewash stations?
Absolutely. Exposure to corrosive chemicals, drilling fluids, and thermal hazards is an everyday risk. Specialized Burn Kits (featuring Water-Jel) and high-capacity Emergency Eyewash Stations. are legally mandated where these specific chemical and thermal hazards exist on site.
Can we buy refill packs for our remote sites?
Yes. Supplying remote camps is logistically challenging, so buying completely new metal cabinets every time you run out of bandages is inefficient. We offer bulk CSA-compliant refill packs and individual replacement items so your medic trailers and fleet vehicles can restock quickly and cost-effectively.
